Jamie Leigh Stephen (Nee Chapman) August 14, 1984 to February 25, 2017. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of our beautiful daughter, wife, sister and friend. She fought hard to stay with us while surrounded by her loved ones.
Jamie was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and graduated from Herzing College as a Pharmacy Technician and worked in various hospitals before settling at the Victoria General Hospital.
She is survived by her loving husband Jordy; Mother and Step-Papa Lisa and Tom Shmon; Father James (Tina) Chapman; Grandmother Maria Pearson; Little brothers Matthew (Samantha) Kull and Jess Kull; Step-Brother Kevin (Jan) Shmon; Step-Brother Wade (Kayla) Shmon; Step-Sister Kailea (Ryan) Shmon; In-laws Beaver (Barry) and Chris Stephen. Grandparents John and Fran Heibert; Bob and Jan Chapman. Best friends Penny (Ty) Scharf (and namesake Lennon Leigh), Becca (Matt) Zimmerman, Angie (Colin) Campbell, and numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nephews, Nieces, and Friends.
Jamie is pre-deceased by her papa, Barry Pearson, whom she loved dearly.
She is also pre-deceased by her and Jordy’s baby, who now she is able to hold.
Those that knew Jamie knew of her unrivaled sense of humour, unbridled kindness, and unmatched personality. She left an immeasurable amount of joy and positivity to those around her, and will be dearly missed.
Jamie suffered from an extremely rare form of Pulmonary Hypertension known as Pulmonary Veno Occlusive Disease. Before Jamie’s passing, a GoFundMe was set up for her in anticipation of her trip to Edmonton for a double lung transplant. The Family would like to thank all those who donated and the funds raised will be donated to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association of Canada for continued research of this horrific disease.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Zoheir Bshouty and his wonderful staff at the Health Sciences Center.
At Jamie’s request, a private service for her family and close friends has already taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association of Canada in Jamie’s memory.
