Maria Marinelli (nee Campanelli)
1921-2016
Our beloved mother, Maria (nee Campanelli) Marinelli was granted angel wings and passed with peace and grace at her home on November 14, 2016. Mom’s final days were spent with family and friends that she had touched in some small way throughout her memorable life.
Our family would like to extend our deepest gratitude and thanks to the various healthcare providers that were instrumental in assisting with her care.
Maria is preceded by her beloved husband Desiderio 2012. She leaves behind her children; Dino, Enrico (Connie), Adelma (Mimmo), Delfina, Cathy. Her 5 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her stepmother, sisters and brothers, nieces and nephews and many friends both in Winnipeg and in Italy. Lastly, she will be missed by her very special niece Giovina that came to live with her at a young age and was raised like her own.
Maria was born in San Giorgio Teramo, Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1966. She dedicated most of her life to raising her family and helping people around her. Mom was a devoted and spiritual individual with unwavering love for her faith and religion. She was an excellent cook, and enjoyed sewing and reading her bible. Mom was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about gardening in return it gave her much happiness and satisfaction.
Our mom was a beautiful person, treating everyone with kindness and respect. She had a talent to make people realize the best in themselves by her encouraging words and wisdom.
Our beloved mom will forever be missed and although the pain and emptiness will remain, her teachings will allow us to move forward in strength and knowledge that one day we will all be together again.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday evening, November 18, 2016 at 7:00 p.m., in Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Avenue, with Rev. Father. Sam Argenziano, celebrant. For those who wish, viewing will start at 6:00 p.m. prior to the mass.
In accordance with my mom’s wishes as was her late husband before her, Divine liturgy and entombment will be celebrated at a later date in her beloved home town of San Giorgio.
