She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Jordan, Kylie, Lily, Grace, Jackson, Brandon and a new arrival expected in January.
Mom also leaves behind many nieces, and nephews, and cousins all of who were very special to her.
Mary was born June 9, 1936 in Broad Valley, Manitoba. She moved to Winnipeg after her first husband's Bill untimely death. Mom resided in her house in Weston for 51 years.
Mom had so many talents including being an awesome cook. She had many hobbies which included reading books, jigsaw puzzles, word searches, family genealogy, astrology, gardening and enjoying her yard. Mom was known throughout her neighbourhood for having a beautiful yard full of flowers every year for over five decades.
Mom was our family matriarch; a strong woman who taught us about overcoming tragedy and hardship and continuing on with life. We will miss her advice, her wonderful cooking, determination and love for her family.
Mom had a special bond with her sister Jennie. Living in close proximity to each other made for a unique relationship for both families. Thank you Aunty Jennie for being there for mom all these years.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday Sept 10, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Drive, Winnipeg. Mom will be laid to rest in Broad Valley Cemetery at a later date.
A special thank you to Dr. Blank, Dr. Tierney, as well as the team of CancerCare doctors.
In lieu of flowers donations to CancerCare Manitoba would be greatly appreciated.
