Obituary for Dorothy Emily Pettit (Dunn)

Dorothy Emily Pettit (Dunn, Mitton)
Passed away after a brief illness on October 11, 2016. Dorothy was born in Broadview Saskatchewan to Gertrude and William Dunn on January 28, 1932. She was predeceased by her parents, sisters Margaret and Brenda, brother John and son Kevin.
Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by children, Susan, Brian, Cathy, Marshall and Shawn, and her many nieces and nephews that she was very close to. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dorothy was fortunate to make one last trip to her birthplace of Broadview at the end of July and was so happy to walk in Crooked Lake recalling so many joyful times as a child.
Dorothy lived a full and active life. She visited many places around the world. She was active in numerous groups, from cubs and brownies when her children were young to Seniors for Seniors in Brandon. She also lived in many places in Canada during her lifetime, from the Maritimes to British Columbia.
Her career choices were varied from bakery assistant to health care worker at Brandon Mental Health Center.
After retirement, she enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, cross stitching, knitting and painting. She took part in many skits and comedy nights at Seniors for Seniors and absolutely loved portraying characters from “Sister Buhla” to “Dolly Parton”.
When asked how she would sum up her life her response was simply; “I have had a lot of fun over the years and I am the last one left before we are “Dunn”.”
A heartfelt thank you to all the compassion and care shown by the amazing staff at Riverview Palliative Care. Each kind act and loving touch did not go unnoticed.
A private celebration of her life will be held at 133 Matheson Avenue East on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at 2 P.M. and a family internment will take place in Broadview Saskatchewan on Saturday, October 22, 2016, at 2 PM.
